Here are the two latest ones I created for my corsetry class. What do you guys think and would you buy either of them? How much would you pay for one? ( Lace me up! )

Does anyone by ay chance have a Stormy Leather Sergeant Silk corset in red oriental fabric? If so, are you by any chance looking to part with it for a price? I may just end up getting buying it on my own fresh from the website, but I am not opposed to second hand either.

It is a commissioned tight-lacing corset, with an 18" waist when fully closed. The mesh is a heavy duty sport mesh. The boning channels are made from black coutil. The 8" busk is backed. The re-enforcement is high quality double-satin ribbon.

I am investigating other sources of suitably strong mesh materials, but they are difficult to find. The sport mesh seems to work very well, but it is synthetic, which I consider less than ideal for a corset. Embroidery canvas appears to be the best natural-material option, but it is brutally expensive and sold in small pieces by specialty embroidery shops (when figured out per-yard, it makes coutil look cheap). I am currently investigating possibly purchasing such canvas direct from the manufacturer, but I am expecting the customs fees to be obscene. If any of you would be interested in buying some of the fabric once I have it, that would help me recover from the expense.

Anyway, here's how it turned out. The bottom shaping is for a lower hip and a high back.

some of you may remember that I promised a little collection of new 29" samples (closing at 27") a little while ago. Well, they are ready! After a little photoshoot on the weekend, these sweet little cinchers are ready to fly the nest and find new loving homes elsewhere around the globe :-)



Do please tell me if these corsets make you think of anything in particular. By the end of the photoshoot I was seeing barcodes, and yesterday on my LJ they were likened to gilled mushrooms due to the texture the casings produce!


[Please note, these corsets would work best on natural measurements of UNDERBUST=33-38", WAIST=30-35", HIGH HIP=38-43", but do note that you'll have a surprising amount of leeway depending upon your body-type, experience, and so on.]

I posted detailed in-progress images of this corset. They may be found in Part 1, Part 2, and Part 3.

The corset is made from two core layers of coutil, with a dupioni silk cover. The contrast stitching and flossing was made with upholstery thread. The boning is 1/4" and 1/2" wide spring-steel flats. The busk is a 12" busk with a backing bone. Edging is bias-cut contrast silk fabric. Quilted gores are three layers of coutil and one layer of dupioni silk.

This was originally intended to be a Christmas gift for a friend, but unfortunately it did not fit. She's been away at grad school, so I was working from measurements taken a year ago. I have measured the finished corset and compared it to the measurements I had, and they match up. However, it appears that the vertical measurements were wrong, because the bust should be about 1/5" higher than it is in order to fit. So, before the end of December, I should be posting images of a similar corset, but made to correct measurements.

Measurements for this corset are 38" bust, 28" waist, 36" hip.
